Internet Connection

  • A stable Ethernet connection is recommended for optimal performance.
  • Wi-Fi works if you can ensure a stable wireless connection.

Local Network

  • For on-premises deployments, a stable LAN or VPN setup is essential to ensure communication between the server, player devices, and administrators.
  • Devices displaying content must be on the same network or have access to the server.

Bandwidth Considerations

  • Depends on the media being used. For high-definition videos or dynamic content, higher bandwidth is required to provide quicker download times between server and device.
  • For basic images or text-based content, bandwidth requirements are minimal.

Firewall and Ports

  • Open ports for communication between the server, Smartsign players, and external data sources (specific ports may vary based on deployment).
  • Ensure that firewalls or security settings allow Smartsign-related traffic.

Devices and Compatibility

  • Smartsign is compatible with various devices, including PCs, Android-based players, and digital signage displays with built in players.

  • Ensure devices are connected to the network and can communicate with the Smartsign server or cloud service.
